Pilates Fitness Instructor, Physiotherapist and owner of LC PhysiotheraPilates
Hello! I’m Laura, a fully qualified Pilates matwork instructor. I completed my Pilates matwork training and certification exam with the APPI in 2012 and have been teaching Pilates since.
I am also a fully qualified Chartered and HPC Registered Physiotherapist and have worked across the NHS and private practice over my 16 year career. I currently work as a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist in private practice in London, whilst also running LC PhysiotheraPilates.
I set up LC PhysiotheraPilates in 2014 after relocating to Aberdeen from Edinburgh, where I previously taught classes in West Lothian and the Central Belt. I wanted to continue to pass on my passion and the ‘power’ of Pilates to the people of Aberdeen! Since starting the business I haven’t looked back. I’m lucky to have a job that I love, and a great team of instructors, so that we can pass on our enthusiasm to others and let clients discover what Pilates can do for them.
Why do I love Pilates?
I love the way Pilates complements other forms of exercise and that it can benefit everyone, whatever your age and current activity level. It is a fantastic way to exercise both during and after pregnancy, and can be very useful as a form of rehabilitating back to full fitness following pain or injury.
What I especially love about modified Pilates exercises is that they can be adjusted for different levels of ability to ensure that every client is working at an appropriate level. The exercises can very safely be progressed to a level that really challenges the fittest of clients, and the feeling of strength from within that Pilates gives you is amazing!
Physiotherapy and Pilates
There are various benefits of attending a Physiotherapist led Pilates class. These include
- Exercises tailored to the individual within a class
- Regular supervision within the class to ensure correct technique
- Timely progression of exercise – expect the classes to get harder as you become stronger!
